The book deals with the subject 'Rural Area Development'. As we know; India is the Country whose heart lies in villages. Even today 65% of the total population live in villages. Rural development is a strategy to improve the socio-economic life of people in the rural areas by bringing about the necessary institutional and behavioural changes for the development of agriculture and rural industries. The term Rural development thus; refers to not only for economic progress but also for achieving the goals of plan objectives such as social Justice, eradication of untouchability and women empowerment. Myrdal in his historical book 'Asian drama' had pointed out that if we could secure development with social justice, we can usher in a new era of development. The present study deals with the rural development scenario of Bihar state as a whole and Vaishali district in particular.
