About the Authors | About the Authors Rev. Dr. Sister Pearl is the Principal of Sophia Girls' College (Autonomous), Ajmer a pioneer institution for women education in Rajasthan with an 'A' Grade Re-Accreditation Certificate by NAAC. Dr. Sister Pearl has been the University Topper in both her UG and PG Program. She has a Doctoral Degree in Foods and Nutrition and is the Subject Expert in many universities of national repute. She is the member of the UGC Expert Committee for on the spot inspection for the Renewal of Autonomy and also member of the Academic Council of M.D.S. University, Ajmer. She is also member of many Academic, Administrative and Professional Bodies. Since taking over as Principal, Sister has zealosuly worked hard to enrich the research culture in the College and has patronized many academic events for the same. She has organized a plethora of Conferences, Workshops and Faculty Development Programs under her aegis to promote the adoption of latest NAAC Guidelines for the benefit of not only her own faculty but other institutions in the vicinity as well. Sister is a devoted counsellor and spiritual healer, who conducts training sessions and programs for children, youth and married couples. She has an avid interest in Extension Work and Community Service and has coordinated Literacy and Skill Development Programs in the Juvenile Prison for many years. Dr. Monika Kannan Dr. Kannan is a Professor and Head in the Department of Geography, Sophia Girls' College (Autonomous), Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. She is engaged in teaching and research for the last 18 years contributing specifically in the area of Crime Mapping and Analysis, Geopolitics, Gender Issues, Juvenile Delinquencies and Border Disputes. She has to her credit 7 books and nearly 60 research papers in journals and magazines of National and International repute. Dr. Kannan has received several awards such as the Certificate of Excellence- by France Congress, Paris, Certificate of Merit by Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Govt. of Rajasthan, India and National Young Geographer Award for her exemplary contributions in the field of research. Dr. Kannan is the Chief Editor of 'Khoj-The International Peer Reviewed Journal of Geography', besides being on the editorial boards of several other journals. She is the Principal Investigator for ICSSR Major project (Impress Scheme) on 'Impact of Geographical Space and Urban Transformation on Woman in Society: A Study of Ajmer City (Rajasthan)'. Dr. Kannan has been a consultant for Institute of Development Study, Jaipur (Raj.) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, (Mumbai) for 'The Urban India Reform Facility, Ajmer and Pushkar' project. She has been Certified by Harvard, Cambridge (USA) in Data Wise Management Techniques and has undertaken training from prestigious Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun, India under the NNRMS program with specialization in Geoinformatics. |
