Marketing Geography is one of the branches of Urban Geography. Its primary objectives is to study the market places as units of space and various kinds of activities associated with distribution of goods by consumers. Intra-Urban Market Geography is recent development in the field of general market geography in India. \nThe Present book �Market Geography of Kashmir� contribution in the field of urban Market Geography. The work focus on the city of Srinagar and attempts to identify the character and distribution of various retail complex in the light of scientific criteria. The hierarchy of market centre has been determined in the analsysis of functional structure, physical conditions and land values at different levels of markets. Core and threshold functions have been identified. Finally, relationship between land values and commercial activities has been closely examined. The chapter ill attempts to identify different market centres and hierachy of commercial complexes of the city of Srinagar. The next chapter is devoted to the study of functional character of the market centres of different levels. The examination of the internal structure of markets and an enquiry into the commercial land values form the basis of study in chapter V and VI respectively.
