This book is a study of the geo-environmental characteristics of the river basin designed for students, academicians, researchers and planners concerned with river basin planning. It is unique in its contents as it incorporates every aspect of the basin and application of remote sensing techniques. It has eight chapters dealing with the general description of the basin and sub-basins, geology, geomorphology, soils, slope analysis and morphometric analysis. The climate analysis includes rainfall trend and variability, climatic water balance and climatic classification. The Water resources include surface hydrology and ground water. The land use/land cover, wasteland and terrain analysis explains about the typical character of the basin. The bio-diversity includes the present flora and fauna, social forestry, horticulture, problems and planning. The resource is an important aspect which includes population, urbanization, livestock, minerals and industries. The book concludes with recommendations for sustainable river basin planning.
