Dairy Farming for Sustainable Rural Development: A Geographical Approach

Dr. Nizamuddin Khan is a Professor in the Department of Geography at Aligarh Muslim University. He has an experience 29 years of in teaching and research and has been involved continuously in university academic activities. Dr. Khan’s research interests include agricultural marketing, rural marketing, and livestock husbandry. He has also completed eight major research projects sponsored by ICAR, ICSSR, UGC, New Delhi, and UPCST, Lucknow, on the theme of livestock husbandry and agricultural marketing. Prof. Khan has also authored thirteen (13) books. Fifteen Ph.D. and five Post-Doctoral fellows have been awarded under his supervision. He received the International Geographical Union Scholarship twice, Best Paper Award in ACSSR 2010, Penang, Malaysia,  Istanbul, Turkey (2018), and  Greensboro, U.S.A. (2019). He has also been awarded Bhoogol Shastra Bhusan  2019 by DGSI and Prof. B Hema Malini Eminent Geographers’ Award 2022 by NAGI. Lifetime Achievement Award 2020, and Outstanding Scientist Award (2021) by VD Good  Professional Association of India. Prof. Khan published 115 research papers in reputed national and international journals and books. He delivered lectures at various international conferences held abroad in about 22 countries.

Dr. Ashish Kumar Parashari is working as PGT in Brilliant Public School, Aligarh. He has completed his doctoral degree from the Department of Geography, AMU, Aligarh.  He also completed a Doctoral Fellowship (ICSSR), and M.A. degrees in Geography from the same institution. He has also worked a Research Assistant in various projects and published a book and more than 20 research papers on various themes of agricultural geography and economic geography.

Dr. Mohamad Awais is currently working in the Centre of Agricultural Education, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.  He did M.Sc. (Ag.) Agricultural Economics and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics & Business Management from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Dr. Awais worked as Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture, Sanskriti University, Mathura, Research Associate in ICAR-National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NIAP), Pusa, New Delhi, Research Assistant in ICSSR, New Delhi, Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and Research Officer in the Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He has authored/edited more than half dozen books on tribal economy, marketing and rural development and scores of papers in journals of national, international repute and chapters in edited books. Dr Awais also presented papers in national and international conferences and seminars. Apart from academic publications, he has written a number of popular articles for farmers in various newspapers and magazines in Hindi and Urdu languages. His fields of interest are agricultural economics, environment and rural management.

Dr. Mostafijur Rahaman did his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He has authored a number of research papers on agricultural marketing, agricultural development, and political behaviour in various national and international reputed journals and edited books. Dr. Rahaman also presented dozens of papers at national and international conferences and seminars. His research interests include agricultural marketing, planning and management, political behavior and remote sensing & GIS applications.
