About the Authors | Dr. Indrajit Roy Chowdhury, born in 1984, Kolkata, West Bengal, obtained his Higher secondary from Garfa D.N.M. High school, Kolkata in 2002, Graduation in Geography Honours from Asutosh College, Kolkata, 2005, M.Sc. in Geography in 2007 and Ph.D. Degree in Geography from University of Calcutta in 2015. Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography & Applied Geography, University of North Bengal, Darjeeling, West Bengal. Earlier he taught as Assistant Professor in Geography at Subarnarekha Mahavidyalaya, West Midnapore, West Bengal, as a Contractual Whole Time Lecturer in Prabhu Jagat Bandhu College, Guest Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Jadavpur University, Jogamaya Devi College, Kolkata, Heramba Chandra College and Shyamaprasad College, Kolkata. He also taught as a Lecturer in Jagadish Chandra Basu Sikshak Sikshan Mahavidyalaya, Kolkata and Jotirmoy College of Education, Sonarpur, West Bengal. He is specialised in Urban Geography, Regional Planning, Transport Geography, Environmental Geography, GIS and Remote Sensing. He has already been published 53 research articles in leading National and International level peer reviewed journals and 28 book chapters in the several edited volumes published by reputed National level publishers. Recently Dr. Indrajit Roy Chowdhury has edited two books entitled on ‘Contemporary Regional Problems in India: Issues and Challenges’ and “Population, Development and Environmental Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities” published by national level reputed publishing house, New Delhi. He has presented over 53 seminar papers in national and international seminars and conferences, India and abroad. Recently he has completed University Assistance Research Project funded by University of North Bengal entitled “Homestay Tourism in Sub-Himalayan North Bengal: Potentialities, Problems and Prospect”. Dr. Roy Chowdhury is also working as a Project Director of ICSSR, New Delhi funded Major Research Project. Dr. Roy Chowdhury is a Life Fellow member of National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI), Deccan Geographical Society and Institute of Landscape, Ecology and Ekistics, Kolkata. |
